| The study presents the problem of the use of biomass as a valuable fuel, being one of the nonconventional sources of heat and electrical energy. In Poland only as little as 10% of the total energy consumption comes from renewable resources. Poland’s accession to the European Union has made it necessary for the country to increase the share of the energy produced from renewable energy sources in the country’s fuel-energy balance. Additionally, it needs to be emphasized that the development of the renewable energy sources, among others the use of biomass, gives a chance for the local communities to achieve energy independence, to continue regional development and to create new workplaces. The use of the renewable energy sources (RES) on the global scale may become the basis for pro-ecological modernization and decentralization of the national energy sector. |
