The paper presents new methods for forming brackets used in the aerospace industry. An overview
of the literature on the so-far employed methods for producing flat ribbed products is given. New
forging techniques for producing brackets using a prototype of a three-slide forging press
developed at the Department of Computer Modelling and Metal Forming Technologies at Lublin
University of Technology are described. It was assumed that producing aircraft brackets by the
forging method using a three-slide forgoing press would lead to improving the functional and
mechanical properties of these products, decreasing their production costs at the same time.
Developed for the needs of the aerospace industry, the innovative methods for forming brackets
were granted patent protection this year. In the paper, eights patents are presented, and they all
relate to the methods for forming flat ribbed products that can be used as brackets, covers, flaps or
screens in aircraft and car construction. The patents have been classified by the Polish Patent
Office in compliance with the International Patent Classification system under B21J5/02 (die
forging), B21J13/02 (die), B21J5/08 (upsetting), B21J5/08 (upsetting press); B21J9/06 (Profiled
forging press).
