For a few years rapid changes in IT technology can be observed. After the "explosion" of the internet applications, mobile devices and a new idea of computing - cloud computing have appeared. The demand for professionals in these new areas had grown rapidly what generated a very difficult task for higher education. As shown by numerous studies, higher education in the EU does not keep up with generation of specialists in classical areas of computer science. Long cycle of new courses preparation in universities combined with the long cycle of education (3-5 years) and fast development of technology result in additional problems in this matter. Some sorts of solution to this situation are post-graduate studies. Postgraduate studies "Mobile application development" meet the large demand for designers and developers of mobile applications. They are addressed to practitioners - IT specialists who have graduated many years ago. The main objective of the course is to provide new competences to those people who could not acquire them during their university studies and who intend to change the fields of professional activity. The program lasts two semesters and it is implemented during the weekends. The work-load of students is 60 ECTS. Until now, two editions of the course have been carried out. The article presents the objectives, target group and the course program. Using a survey method, motivations to study of different groups of participants were examined. The results of research allowed better adaptation the program to the market needs. The range of adaptations has been presented in the article.
