This paper presents a summary of the Leonardo da Vinci project called “GUI usability and
accessibility: exchanging knowledge and experiences (AUKEE)”, which is a cooperation between
three European universities and an industrial partner.
The objectives of this paper are threefold. Firstly, the concepts of Massive Open Online Courses
(MOOCs) and their growing popularity are presented. The introduction of MOOC is complemented by
a discussion of the several definitions of a MOOC. Secondly, the process of course development in
the project is demonstrated by focusing on work organization and used course structure. Moreover,
the elaborated project results in the form of various types of course materials and online platform are
presented. Thirdly, a short discussion about problems and challenges met throughout the project on
one hand to satisfy constraints of MOOC creation and on other hand to be adapted to the context of
working in an international and multilingual team.
