This paper presents the modeling studies concerning the water flow through straight globe valve of the nominal diameter d(n) = 20 mm. Numerical calculations were performed by the commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software Fluent, Ansys Inc. for three various degrees of the valve bore opening and for three different values of water flow velocity. The distributions of water flow velocity magnitude and turbulence intensity were presented in the paper for each studied variant. Our numerical calculations showed that there is a dependence, not only between the coefficient of local pressure loss and degree of valve opening, but also to the Reynolds number. The obtained results of local pressure loss coefficients calculations were compared to those suggested by standards, fittings manufactures and literature reports. |
