The majority of society connects the notion of critical date bug with the (in)famous Y2K bug. But the problem go much further and is more common than popular belief it affects not only dates from the future, but also from the past. Moreover, due to the periodic nature of computer time representation, many of those critical dates will be repeated over the course of time. Some of those critical dates are associated only with certain software or affect only certain branches of business, while other may have impact (even indirectly) on almost everybody. In this article author analyzes chosen critical dates and their potential or real impact on software and everyday life. Chosen aspects of the selected problems with computer time representation and critical date occurrences are described and discussed. |
