The lack of computer science specialists in the European Union is observed. Particularly big gaps are seen among software developers. The labor market in the area of computer science is an employee, not the employer. In these circumstances the employers are actively seeking employees among computer science students strongly lower and lower years of study. The main aim of this study was to verify the research thesis: “Start of computer science students’ employment increases the motivation to study but decreases its results”. This thesis has been tested using a survey among students and an analysis of their achievements. The study covered all annals of computer science students at a university, in order to analyze the dynamic aspects of this phenomenon. The paper presented results of research, i.e. negative and positive results of combining work and study by first and second level students of computer science. The results indicate a relationship between students making a professional career and their learning outcomes and other activities. Additionally, there are studied causes of the start of professional work, as well as, help areas of employers to continue education by the students |
