| Gliding arc discharge (GAD) is a special electrical energy receiver that requires different power supply conditions from those present in the classical arc. Most of the parameters of the GAD cannot be explained by well-known models of Cassie and Mayr. The modified models presented in the paper may, to some extent, take into account the cyclical nature of such a GAD reactor, as well as increasing the length of the discharge and its ignition in each half-cycle of the supply voltage changes. The paper shows a proposed construction of a AC-DC-AC supply with the push-pull topology. Thanks to the increased frequency, the supply is compact-sized, has the power of over 1 kW while at the same time it is easily adjustable and can work without an external ignition system. The proposed solution could be the alternative for power supply systems based on grid transformer. |
