This chapter is a presentation of cement kiln dust (CKD) potential to be applied in building sector, namely production of concretes. CKD, also known as bypass dust, is a fine-grained, solid, highly alkaline material removed from the cement kiln exhaust gases by means of the tools controlling the air pollution. CKD is emitted in the course of cement production in rotary kilns. Literature analysis and own research strength and durability concrete with CKD were done. Hence, the frost resistance and salt resistance as well as hydrophobization efficiency of concrete with CKD after the hydrophobization procedure have been investigated by the authors. According to the particular conclusions that come from our own investigations, the area of CKD utilization is perspective; anyhow one should remember that limit of 5% shares in concrete compositions is reasonable and is not negatively influencing concrete parameters, it is acceptable until 10% and should not exceed 20% due to the decrease of all final product parameters. |
