Parking solution in urban areas, particularly within residential districts is an issue requiring extensive analysis and often appropriate designed intervention. The constantly increasing number of cars creates problems in residential developments as well as mares the aesthetics of the public realm, forcing architects, city planners and designers to introduce solutions conceiving and arranging parking zones. These issues challenge both newly designed districts, as well as those dating back to the previous century. Local housing authorities often take actions aimed at remedying the resulting difficulties and providing residents with a decent standard of living. The author of this chapter attempts to showcase the challenges associated with parking cars in residential areas and consequently will indicate the implemented solutions and their effectiveness. Additionally the future relationships between automobiles and urban areas will be weighed and explored.
