The Internet of Things presents enormous potential in the area of healthcare. A separate definition of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) appeared and was defined as the collection of medical devices and applications that connect to healthcare IT systems through online computer networks. The use of the Internet of Medical Things is possible at all stages of health care. It is used in prevention, health education, diagnosis, observation of patients, as well as in the treatment stage (both at home and in the hospital). The introduction of IoMT leads to even more personalized healthcare. It is particularly important in view of global demographic changes related to the aging of societies. The widespread use of communicable medical devices aims to improve the quality of human health, improve medical care, reduce healthcare costs and reduce expenditure on hospital equipment. To achieve these goals, it is necessary to have appropriate infrastructure - modern medical equipment, computer networks, specialized software, huge data sets, as well as expert knowledge of healthcare professionals. Due to the very large amount of data and information generated by communicating IoMT medical devices, it is necessary to implement appropriate methods and procedures for knowledge management. The article presents selected examples of the use of the Internet of Things in healthcare. Based on them, conclusions regarding the future of such solutions were drawn. The benefits that IoMT can give to various entities related to healthcare were systematized. In this work the attention was also focused on the problems of the market of communicating medical devices, barriers appearing during their implementation and the need to implement new methods of knowledge management for the processing of data from IoMT devices.
