To increase the load bearing capacity of steel and concrete bridges, external prestressing can also be applied. In the paper an example of such strengthening of a bridge span is described. The span consists of prestressed precast WBS type girders and three cross-beams, also prestressed. The spans were erected by longitudinal and transversal launching method. Complex construction technology enabled to use minimal (record) quantities of constructional materials. In the paper the attention is paid to the fact that in the calculations of load bearing capacity of rehabilitated bridges, their construction technology must be taken into account. This is particularly important in the case of verifying calculations of prestressed bridges, especially those consisting of prefabricated elements. |
