Edge quality of machined elements is important for many reasons. Deburring process facilitates or sometimes even enables to perform montage and control operations, or following technological operations on workplece. Moreover burrs are dangerous for the workers in assembly lines and in the maintenance process of the products. In order to ensure accurate work of parts in assembly, edges should be characterised by the specified, defined the state of execution. Chamfered, rounded and deburred these are desirable states of the edges. Unfortunately, when the tool leaves the part during machining operations, burrs can form as a result of material plastic flow. These projections of the material formed on the edges should be removed from the material. There are a large number of deburring methods. One of the simple and low-cost method, with the possibility of automation is wire brushing. Thanks to rotating brushes with flexible wires after deburring specific edge state shall be obtained. This paper describes the results of application of wire brushing to states of the edges of magnesium alloys. Magnesium alloys are commonly used in aerospace industry and many other branches of industry due to low density. The paper investiga tes the effect of brush types, flood coolant in wire brushing process on states of the edges. Feed „f”, radial depth of cut ae, and cutting speed vc, were kept constant. Brass and steel wire brushes with the different diameter of the fibers were used in the experiments. The results of wire brushing with coolant were compared with dry wire brushing. It was found that the wire brushing beside simple deburring process could be a method to obtained specific states of the edges.
