The development of the aviation industry, which has been made over the last decades has forced the significant progress in the field of modern and lightweight aircraft structures. Expanding range of applications of new materials such as Fiber Metal Laminates (FMLs) entails closer look at the follure mechanisms of these materials. Fiber metal laminates ore hybrid composite materials composed of mterlacmg layers of thm metal sheets and fiber remforced adhesives. The biggest advantage of FML materials is excellent fatigue strength and high resistance to Impact loadings. The paper presents fiber dominated follure morphologies of fiber metal laminates tested under single-mode loading conditions. The basic aim Is to present the dlfferences in follure morphology deriving of fiber orientation. Observations were performed using optical and scanning electron microscopy. |
