| Due to the low specific weight and relatively high mechanical properties, magnesium alloys are an attractive designing material for manufacturing aircraft parts. The components include flat parts with ribs such as various covers, flops, brackets and screens. They are mainly made by casting and machining. Better product properties are obtained thanks to applying semi-finished products in the form of forgings. The research results concerning developing a technology of manufacturing such forgings by means of a forging method are presented in this paper. Furthermore, the analysis of literature data regarding the metal forming process of forgings with ribs is presented. The authors’ own conception of metal forming of flat forgings with ribs and the preliminary research results of the new process are also described. |
