This paper describes the field of advanced Fibre Metal Laminates based on titanium and aluminium with carbon and glass fibres reinforced composites. The tensile properties and failure have been presented and discussed. . It was found; (I) homogeneous structure and good boding between the metal and composite layers for FML. High quality of FML produced using the autoclave method, (2) FML are characterized by high tensile properties. The main factors that influence of the properties are: the type of individual components (metals and fibre reinforced composites) and the orientation of reinforcing fibers, (3) failure of laminates indicates the complexity proces of degradation of these materials. The nature of damage in FML layers is similar to that typical for polimer composites with failure at the interface metal/composite. The mixed nature oj the damage – cohesive and adhesive were noted. |
