From the mathematical point of view, water supply nets structures may seem to be of a chaotic character. Since the 80s of the last century, the theory of fractal geometry has been used for the description of geometrical sets of similar properties. This paper presents a possible application of the aforementioned theory for describing water supply nets structures. Drawing on the study conducted in this paper, we propose to expand the existing classification of water network structures. We propose to use the fractal dimension and the bifurcation number as main parameters of the modified classification. This description could provide a basis for future for instance, connected with monitoring and water quality deterioration. |
