Residential heating energy consumption has a significant contribution to the national and global energy balance. Thus proper management of energy in this sector (i.e. reduction of energy consumption and increase of energy efficiency) is an important task. In this paper seasonal energy demand for heating purpose of typical residential building in Poland has been estimated and different kinds of power boilers and energy carriers used for heat generation were assessed on the basis of LCA methodology. SimaPro 7.2 software and Ecoinvent 2.2 database were used in order to investigate environmental burdens. Two techniques were used to interpret the final results of environmental assessment: Ecoindicator’99 and Global Warming Potential. According to the obtained results, the biggest environmental burdens are connected with electrical heating. Heating system with boilers for wooden pellet seems to be the most sustainable solution. |
