Rotating machinery devices are prone to failure dueto severe working conditions, whose failures will further induceother mechanical faults. Therefore, the fault diagnosis of rotatingmachinery is important, especially in the case of unknownfault types and fault characteristics. A novel adaptive searchmethod is proposed for the bearing fault frequency by usingstochastic resonance (SR) with general scale transformation. The amplitude-domain indices, which are independent of thespecific fault frequency of vibration signal, are applied to quantifySR response. Simulated bearing fault signal is used to illustratethe good performance of these indices in evaluating SR output. Then, an adaptive search procedure for bearing fault frequencyis presented in detail and verified by different vibration signalscollected from the multiple working conditions. The searchingresults demonstrate that the proposed adaptive search method isaccurate, effective, and sensitive for detecting unknown failurefrequencies of rolling bearings. The proposed method might havesignificant application value in the condition monitoring of rollingbearings. |
