| The article presents the analysis of the self-similarity based on the real network traffic. Data files were collected in the local Intemet provider IP backbone. All of them represent a typical IP traffic. The article also contains the results of the traffic modeling based on our model. From mathematical point of view, our research based on the Pareto distribution and the ON/OFF model. The generated traffic shows the features which one can find in a real long-range correlated traffic. We also argue that the our model, presented in the article, is simple from practical point of view having only short list of parameters. For these reasons, the model can be very useful in any research upon IP traffic engineering. All the analyses and discussions are dealing with both aggregated traffic and traffic generated by individuals services like www, p2p etc. |
