In this paper, recent results ofthe experimental investigation which was aimed at disclosing some aspects of shear failure in flexural concrete beams reinforced longitudinally, are presented. The performed tests have showed tliat the size ofthe member affects shear failure mechanism. In tested beams the stałic scheme. concrete grade and longitudinal reinforcement were the same whereas the ejfective length leff variedfrom 0.8 to 1.8 m. Tahng intoshear strength and the mode of failure obtained duringthe experment it was observed that tested beams should be divided on short beams and slender beams as the character of cracing process and failure differed significantly in beams of leff =0.8 and 1.0 m, as compared with beams of leff>1.0 m. |
