Concentration of individual gasses in a mixture is one of the fundamental information allowing combustion process management and assessment. This way the process efficiency or its environmental impact are evaluated. Currently used analysers have very good metrological parameters, yet, the time to obtain the result is relatively long due to sampling and sample conditioning. In many applications devices that do not require a high accuracy, but should be characterized by high speed, receiving a result, certain activities and low sensitivity to conditions in the place of measurement are more useful. It is possible to achieve using optical methods. A beam of light can be introduced directly into the gas stream and change in its parameters due to the composition of mixture is immediately visible and possible to interpret. The article presents two methods of measurement allowing determination of CO concentration in the gas mixture. They are characterized by features that allow its use in low cost gas analyzers. Theoretical basis for these methods and the results of laboratory tests carried out for comparison and evaluation. |
