The aim of this paper was to create the numerical model of the sanitation system failure influence on the soil environment. This model was built to show the contamination concentration distribution in the studied soil profile. It can be useful in the estimation of the influence of exfiltration on the groundwater and soil environment. Numerical research was conducted for the ground profile including the built-in pipe of the sanitary gravitational sewage system – Nadstawna St., Lublin, Poland. The finite elements method based software FEFLOW 5.2 was chosen to compile the studied model. Modeling research was based on the parameterization of soil profile and information concerning concentration of the pollutant outflowing from the damaged pipe.Phenol was chosen as the considered pollutant. Its concentration was set on the basis of the research conducted by the Central Laboratory MPWiK Lublin. The reference data, the results of soil parameter research and the results of the investigations of raw sewages inflow to sewage treatment Hajdów allowed to choose boundary and initial conditions, required to numerical calculations. The obtained results of calculations allowed the analysis of the influence of the waste water lines breakdown on the soil environment and groundwater. The results of our studies should be empirically verified. |
