The paper focuses on numerical and experimental investigation of a biomechanical system of the middle ear with an implant. The proposed solution may be considered when the hearing system is impaired or when conventional hearing aids cannot be worn. The human ear structure is modified by adding an electromechanical transducer. A proper configuration of transducer parameters can improve the hearing process. Therefore, an effort is made to assess the influence of a coupling between the biomechanical and the electrical system. The study determines the effects of voltage excitation and electromechanical coupling on the implant dynamics and effectiveness. Results of this research can be used in practice to enable better matching of the implant to the human ear. |
