Biogas is a mixture of various gases coming from microbial anaerobic fermentation of organic substrate. It is used as a fuel especially in internal combustion engines. Hydrogen sulfide is a biogas component, which negatively influences the biogas incineration and contaminates an atmosphere with sulfur oxides, produced during its oxidation. Moreover, H2S is corrosive to concrete and steel. In order to use the biogas as a fuel, it is necessary to conduct its desulfurization (hydrogen sulfide removal). There are physical, chemical and biological methods of biogas desulfurization. After literature data analyzing, the desulfurization efficiencies of two biological systems: bioscrubbers and biotrickling filters, were compared.
