An uncomfortable smell is very often caused by the presence of amines in air. The most important sources of amines and its derivatives in the environment are animal farms, landfills and food industries. In order to mitigate this malodor problem an effective ventilation system with air deodorization should be provided. Papers deals with a new method of air deodorization by means of filter with fibrous ion exchanger Fiban K-1. The obtained results indicate that the filter could remove methylamine from air effectively in wide range of airflow rate (0,01 – 0,05 m/s). Obtained results of determination of odour concentration by dynamic olfactometry confirmed the material as an efficient sorbent for methylamine removal from air. The described filter could work continuously as the fibrous ion exchanger could be easily regenerated with acid. |
