Adhesive joints play an important role in many fields of technology. In civil engineering, they are used e.g. when reinforcing existing structures with fiber composite strips or to create entire structures (e.g. connecting stiffeners in composite beams). At present, numerous studies are being conducted on the impact of various parameters on the rigidity and strength of this type of connection. This work focuses on the issue of increasing the strength of a joint and exerting influence on its characteristics through the use of double-sided adhesive tape and rigid point connections made of two-component epoxy adhesive. Both types of connections have their advantages and disadvantages, hence the hybrid connection in five versions was made in an original way. For testing, TESA double-sided adhesive tape with a thickness of 90 lm and Distal epoxy adhesive was used. The materials that were joined were aluminum and GFRP composite. The dimensions of the lap were 30x30mm, and the length of the joined plates was 125 mm. Static uniaxial tensile tests were carried out at room temperature for 25 samples (5 series of 5 samples). The paper also presents images of joined surfaces after tests. The results in the form of force-displacement graphs show a two-stage effect of damage to the connection, which is the effect of using layers with different stiffness. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
