| Terrorism has become a sign of our times. Constantly evolving and assuming new forms, terrorism has become the most serious threat to international relations, democracy and human rights. Currently the most spectacular and deadly form of ter-rorism is aviation terrorism, which, as history shows, has become the most effective illegal tool to influence the authorities. Therefore it is advisable to separate this phe-nomenon from other forms of political violence and subjecting it to thorough re-searches. This study provides a comprehensive characteristics of aviation terrorism. It includes analysis of national and international definitions of aviation terrorism, both in of legal and academic terms. Citing a number of historical examples, the origins and evolution of this phenomenon was also presented, which logical partition allowed for the answer to the question why civil aviation has become such an attractive target for terrorists |
