The Covid-19 pandemic has caused major changes to the economies of European countries. Enterprises had to deal with the consequences of the necessity to keep their employees' social distance. The result was the discontinuation of work, which meant generating the costs of maintaining the workplace, or remote work, which entailed potential problems with ensuring the security of the company's data. On the other hand, the dramatically declining revenues of companies increased the importance of technologies that will enable the company to reduce labor costs and increase flexibility related to employment. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) turned out to be such a technology. It enables the replacement of tedious and routine work performed by humans in IT systems with software robots. The article presents the advantages of this technology and identifies the challenges, including key competences enabling the effective implementation of robots in the enterprise. It was also examined to what extent the educational market in Poland reacted to the emergence of demand for RPA specialists. Initiatives taken both by universities and platforms offering e-learning courses were analyzed. The analyze of RPA implementation models in enterprises shows the need for not only IT specialists implementing RPA in enterprises, but also raising awareness of the possibility of processes robotizing among non-IT specialists. This demonstrates the legitimacy of including RPA into study plans in areas such as finance, which derive the most benefits from the robotization of business processes |
