Wide application of polymers in automotive or aerospace industries is caused by their good properties, like low weight and good tribological properties, what is important especially for mating surfaces. Polymers are widely used in engineering applications in which friction and wear are critical. This paper presents the wear characteristics of 7 different polymers using a pin- on-disc testing machine, their surface assessment using KEYENCE VHS 5000 and measurements of roughness parameters using ROMMEL TESTER TlO00. The paper also presents the results of the evaluation of the value of the friction force and the coefficient of friction in strictly defined time intervals t (0-1 min, 1-3 min, 3-6 min, 6-10 min). Understanding friction coefficients and friction forces allowed to increase the interpretative correctness of mass and volumetric wear. Based on the research, it was found that the best properties in terms of mass consumption has the polymer PElO00+oil with a loss of 6,13 mm3 and which was characterized by the highest roughness (parameters Ra and Rz) before friction. Before friction PA66+MoS2 was characterized by the lowest roughness, but after the friction test is characterized by the highest suńace roughness. |
