| Two separate paradigms can be distinguished in contemporary management theory. Its main research trend refers to the economic paradigm (sometimes referred to as econo-technical) and to the human concept called homo economicus. In the light of this approach, business is perceived in terms of profit and human relations are treated as ordinary commercial transactions. However, in the recent management literature more and more trends related to humanistic management - perceiving human as a zoon politikon - started to emerge. The article characterizes both management paradigms and presents a position enabling the integration of the two. It is theoretical and 'panoramic' – it depicts an overview. Based on the existing literature on paradigms in management sciences, a conceptual model of one integrated management paradigm has been developed.
