Various types of stimuli contribute to the efficiency of economic activity. This chapter explores how, to what extent, and at what frequency resources are utilized to achieve economic benefits. It also explores whether these interactions differed significantly prior to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic and during its course. The purpose of this chapter was to assess changes in the productivity and changes in market prices of shares of public companies in the fuel sector in Poland and to verify whether and to what extent these changes were caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, the hypothesis to be verified was as follows: fuel prices had a less significant impact on the resource productivity of fuel companies in 2019 and 2021 than they did during the COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. in 2020. This chapter uses a review of the literature on the financial management of enterprises and the situation in the fuel market. The empirical analysis presented in this chapter was carried out with the use of financial analysis indicators and statistical tools, i.e. Pearson’s correlation. Statistical analysis was based on companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and included in the WIG-PALIWA index. The study also served to explain the reasons for changes in the productivity of the listed fuel companies in light of the market and organizational determinants analyzed. In addition, recommendations relating to the use of property resources to obtain economic benefits in conditions of uncertainty were drafted.
