The idea of sustainability has become one of the most important
challenges of the modern world. Its implementation is particularly important in the building sector, which produces between 28 and 40% of total carbon
dioxide emissions. One of the practical aspects of implementing the concept of sustainable development in the construction industry is the use of building certification systems. The paper attempts to make a comparative analysis of three popular
building certification systems in Poland: BREEAM, LEED and WELL. The results
of the analysis indicate the differences between the certification methods considered
and also present the areas of convergence of all the systems considered. The results
of the analysis may be useful in selecting a building certification system or may
serve to broaden knowledge of the building certification systems in use.
