| The article presents the results of experimental tests on single and double motorcycle lane changes. Maneuvers of this type can be performed defensively in traffic-related emergencies. The length of the section necessary to perform such a maneuver and the time needed were analyzed. The tests were conducted at speeds ranging from 20 km/h to 80 km/h. The experiment assumed that the motorcycle moved at a constant speed during the entire simulated maneuver. If the maneuver was performed in conjunction with an attempt to change speed, the results might be different. Performing a maneuver in such a way, consciously, while maintaining full control over the movement path would mean that the motorcyclist has high competences in the field of driving technique. It cannot be ruled out that a motorcyclist with less skills (than the test driver) would achieve worse results in terms of the length of the section necessary to perform this maneuver and its duration. Based on the observations, conclusions were drawn regarding the “ease” of performing this maneuver at various speed ranges and the stabilizing moment of the motorcycle (resulting from the speed of movement) on the length of the section needed to perform it and its duration. |
