| Bitumen ageing processes begin at the production stage and continue throughout the service life of road surfaces. In terms of kinetics, previous research has focused on the analysis of long-term ageing, while the changes occurring during the production of asphalt mixtures have been neglected. To complete the knowledge in this area, the aging kinetics of unmodified bitumen 50/70, ORBITON 25/55-60 and ORBITON 45/80-80 HIMA, were analysed using FTIR, MSCR and SARA methods. The analyses were carried out in terms of the oxidation reactions of both C atoms and S atoms present in the bitumen. The results showed that the highest value of was determined for ORBITON 25/55-60 bitumen, while the highest value of was determined for 50/70 bitumen. Interestingly, a decreasing relation IS=O=f(t) was observed for ORBITON 25/55-60 bitumen, indicating the release of sulphur in the form of volatile organic compounds. In this paper, a kinetic analysis of the SBS copolymer chemical structure degradation process was also carried out. The results obtained indicate that the amount of copolymer in the bitumen mainly influences the degradation process of 1,4-trans in SBS. In this paper, rheological rate constants were also determined, which are previously unknown in terms of bitumen ageing. The results obtained indicate that the application of the SBS copolymer results in a reduction in the determined values of , , and indicating that the original rheological properties of the binder are retained to a greater extent. |
