| Computer vision techniques have enabled wide access to cultural heritage through the implementation of online exhibitions. Due to this, every person can expand their knowledge by visiting “Museums at home”. One of the most important aspects is the development of webservices that will allow one access to the widest possible group of recipients, including people with visual impairments. Thus, the main objectives of the study were to investigate graphical user interfaces (GUI) taking into consideration two online exhibitions presenting Polish cultural heritage. The following research questions were defined: 1) Does the number of evaluation defects of online exhibitions influence on the user’s accessibility? 2) Do the visual impairments affect on the GUI perception? 3) Does the contrast influence on the GUI usability? For the purpose to answer the above-mentioned questions, the study was carried out utilizing the WAVE tool to verify inaccuracies regarding GUI accessibility and the eye-tracker tool to analyze the perception of the developed GUI. The obtained results confirmed that online exhibitions with fewer accessibility errors are easier to use and are user-friendly. The appropriate contrast affects ease of use and the time it takes to find a given functionality. While designing the GUI, attention should be paid to adapt it to people with visual impairments by increasing the font size and adding additional functionalities. The obtained results proved that the number of evaluation defects of online exhibitions influences the user’s accessibility, at the same time the visual impairments affect the GUI perception and the high contrast improves the GUI usability. |
