| The modeling of heat and water transport in porous media represents a complex and multifaceted problem, often addressed separately in the scientific literature. However, they are inherently interdependent, and governed by material-specific parameters collectively referred to as hygrothermal properties. These properties include hydraulic permeability, longitudinal and transverse dispersion coefficients, matrix heat conduction, and the heat transfer coefficient. This study presents an experimental investigation of the simultaneous transport of heat and water. Cylindrical samples made from autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) with varying bulk densities are examined. The samples are immersed in water using a specially designed experimental apparatus that allowed for the simultaneous measurements of thermal and water transport. During the experiment, the evolution of temperature in the samples and the mass of water diffusing through their surface are continuously recorded. The results contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the coupled heat and moisture transport in porous construction materials, with implications for building performance and durability analysis. |
