| This article presents the results of experimental approbation of the azimuthally-invariant Mueller matrix microscopy method for myocardium native histological sections from deceased individuals. As part of a comprehensive algorithmic analysis, a set of statistical (asymmetry and excess of the distributions of the Mueller matrix invariant of linear birefringence – MMI LB), correlational (excess and correlation area of autocorrelation functions of MMI LB distributions), and fractal (excess density of power spectra of autocorrelation functions of MMI LB distributions) diagnostic markers sensitive to changes in the polycrystalline structure of fibrillar networks in native histological sections of deceased individuals with varying times since death from COVID-19 was identified. Excellent (up to 95%) diagnostic and very good (90%) differential levels of necrotic changes in the structural anisotropy of fibrillar networks of myocardium with long-term effects of COVID-19 were established. The legal aspects of implementing the developed laser technique into public practice during pandemics are analyzed. |
