| High-quality non-destructive diagnostics represents one of the key aspects in assessing the condition of technical systems. It plays a significant role in determining the operational condition of rolling bearings. This article presents a method for easily and efficiently obtaining information on the type and quality of rolling bearing lubrication. From a relatively short vibration data record, it is possible to determine (i) the lubrication medium used and (ii) the quality of lubrication. The proposed approach is based on a methodology employing functional data analysis (FDA). The results are compelling and demonstrate, with high accuracy, that the type of lubrication medium can be precisely identified from a short vibration signal record. Furthermore, if relubrication is required, the results enable an accurate assessment of lubrication quality. Compared to existing methods, the proposed approach exhibits an accuracy of more than 96%, which in some instances is an improvement of more than 30%, while it also lowers the calculation time by up to 50%. The results also offer practical, efficient, and cost-effective applicability. |
