| This paper investigates the cutting force component Fx during machining a thin wall over its entire height (also known as milling at a maximized axial depth of cut) under high speed cutting (HSC) conditions. The study involved assessing time-dependent variations of the signal component Fx, acting parallel to the machined wall, and its frequency characteristics by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis. Focus was put on the differences between individual tool passes and the occurrence of chatter. The study also concentrated on the specific nature of machining thin-walled components, as their reduced stiffness has a significant impact on the dynamic response of the machine tool-holder-tool-workpiece system. |
