The AquaRDIS hydraulic model represents a benchmark water distribution network
developed for the virtual city of AquaRDIS. The name AquaRDIS is an acronym for Aqua
Research and Design for Infrastructure Sustainability. The network represents a urban
water supply system and incorporates water mains and distribution pipelines, spatial and
temporal variations in water demand, pumping station operation, and the hydraulic
effects of network fittings and control elements. The network benchmark is intended to
support reproducible research on water distribution system hydraulics, resilience,
reliability, and performance assessment. The benchmark may also be used for the
development and evaluation of optimization, simulation, and decision-support methods
for water distribution systems.
