The proposed work introduces a novel hybrid inverter topology that integrates a flying capacitor with an open-ended induction motor load, using a cascaded H-bridge and a switched capacitor on the other side of the winding. The primary objective of this work is to extend the modulation range using sinusoidal pulsewidth modulation (PWM), unlike the traditional six-step method that creates more harmonics. This approach works well even at unity power factor and does not depend on the type of load. The proposed design reduces the semiconductor rating, thus decreasing stress on the components and minimizing switching losses, especially in high-power inverters. By linearizing the overmodulation region with sinusoidal PWM, the system enhances performance during flux weakening, where traditional six-step inverters produce lower order harmonics. This topology achieves a maximum peak phase fundamental voltage of 0.637 times the dc-link voltage, while extending the linear modulation range using sinusoidal PWM control. Capacitors are kept balanced under all dynamic conditions through space vector redundancy, ensuring proper voltage regulation in the output phase voltages. The functionality of the topology is validated through experimental testing under both steady-state and transient conditions.
