The paper presents selected results of a numerical investigation of the orbital forging proces for producing a hollow part. This part is a jaw coupling sleeve made of titanium alloy, widely used in the agricultural industry. The FEM simulation was performed based on the following assumptions: (i) the orbital forging proces is conducted under hot conditions using an industrial press of MCOF type and (ii) the final part is formed from a special hollow preform. The preform shape was selected such to ensure optimal conditions of the orbital forging proces. The aim of the investigation was to identify phenomena which occur during the orbital forging proces. The results obtained are thoroughly examined and described. |
