PE-HD water pipes are exposed to adverse environme ntal conditions, both during production and their subsequent use in the construction industry. Organi c compounds migrating into water may lead to deteri oration of water quality, especially its taste and odor. Commo nly used antioxidant BHT and its products of degrad ation are leaching into water as a result of degradation of t he pipes material. This paper presents the results of laboratory tests considering changes of BHT concentration in t he water circulating in the PE-HD pipe of 30 m leng th as well as our numerical studies. Numerical calculations we re performed using the commercial software Fluent, Ansys Inc., based on the computational fluid dynamics (CF D). The analyses of water samples confirmed the mig ration of the tested antioxidant from the pipe material into water. The results of numerical analysis showed the good agreement with the measured values. |
