The article summarizes the development of the concept of HR diversity management and presents the most common approaches to HR diversity. It also highlights that properly managed HR diversity could be beneficial for the enterprise but practitioners encounter some problems. Literature review brings to the conclusion that there is occurring a noticeable gap between the needs of practitioners and interest of researchers. The main objective of this article is to present the results of interviews conducted with HR specialists in 15 Polish innovative enterprises1 (5 enterprises have signed the Diversity Charter). The interviews were used to identify the existing approaches and practices in the area of HR diversity management. The results confirm findings from the literature review, according to which companies practice rather traditional approach to HR diversity, which is aimed at creating a proper company image than conscious use of the diverse potential for competitive advantage. |
