Direct foreign investments are an important source of financing in countries which wish to modernise their economies. Poland, after accession to the European Union, like other countries of our region, has become a major host country for FDI, particularly from Western Europe. This publication presents the state and the motives of investments, as well as the barriers to it and the prospects of Spanish FDI in Poland. Although Poland is not the main target of Spanish FDI, it is an important partner also as 3 result of the cultural proximity between our countries. Only thirty years ago Spain was an underdeveloped country. Using the FDI, the country has transformed its economy and reached a high level of development. Currently, Spain is experiencing a deep crisis and seeking new investment opportunities abroad. Poland may become an important recipient of these investments. We can attraa Spanish entrepreneurs by strengthening the incentives and eliminating barriers to investment.
