The economic development of European regions is a driving force of accelerated economic growth of national economies as well as the European economy as a whole. Countries and regions should develop sustainably The idea of sustainable regional development is that the process of development should take place in three spheres simultaneously; it should include economic, environmental and social development meeting the needs of local commumties. This paper presents recommendations for the formulation of regional development strategies aimed at stimulating and encouraging the development of inter-regional cooperation, strategies that harmonize efforts and activities promoting the development of regional entrepreneurial capital with environmental protection projects, the development of infirastructure, as well as other activities stimulating regional development. Moreover, this paper presents selected examples of good practices in the Silesian Voivodeship (the Silesian region located in southern Poland) and theLublin Voivodeship (the Lublin region located in eastern part of Poland). |
