The article presents the results of deformability testing of cast high-strength magnesium alloys type AZ61, AZ80 in hot working conditions. The upsetting tests performed with the following variable parameters of the process: temperature, degree of strain, quenching medium after forging allowed for identifying important parameters of the process as well as its limits. Based on the computer simulations of the conducted upsetting processes the influence of technological parameters of the process of forging selected cast alloys of light high-strength metals on the process and the quality of the finished products. The following parameters were analysed: temperature, stress, strain, strain rate, densification and fracture criterion. Qualitative research was conducted for deformed magnesium alloys, focusing on structure, electrical conductivity and hardness. A comparative analysis of the results of experimental testing, simulations and qualitative research indicated the most optimal forging and heat treatment conditions for cast alloys of light high-strength metals allowing one to obtain good quality products
