The Solar air collectors represent a category of solar thermal technology designed to heat air through the utilization of solar energy. Increasing the surface area constitutes one method employed to enhance the efficiency of such collectors. This enhancement is attributed to the function of baffles, which expand the heat exchange surface between the air and the absorber, thereby improving heat transfer. Additionally, baffles induce turbulence within the airflow, promoting enhanced mixing and convection for optimal heat transmission. This study examines the influence of longitudinal baffles on the thermal performance of flat-plate solar air collectors, with the objective of optimizing baffle configuration to maximize performance gains. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations were performed using ANSYS Fluent R2 2023 to compare a smooth collector with a configuration incorporating five longitudinal baffles. The Nusselt number, and local convective heat transfer coefficient were analyzed. The results demonstrate a significant enhancement in heat transfer with baffles, achieving an improvement of 54.11%. The local convective heat transfer coefficient exhibited distinct fluctuations along the channel, reaching peak values in baffled regions, whereas a decreasing trend was observed in the smooth channel following an initial increase.
